We hope you notice something special about our work from the moment you see it. An absolute reverence for design and craftsmanship guides us as we handcraft each piece.

Julie was voted Best New Maker and People’s Choice award winner at Maine Wood 2024!

Pete Vogel, craftsman

Pete’s one-of-a-kind sign designs are perfect for adding an enduring character to urban living spaces, vacation homes, workplaces, restaurants and taverns, and everyday living rooms, dining rooms, and kitchens — any place people gather to enjoy the pleasures of life.

Creative direction and deadlines have been his career focus for decades and the letterform lies at the heart of his love for graphic design. He is a native New Englander and an avid woodworker who falls under the spell of anything antique. Needless to say, I can’t think of anything else he’d rather be doing.

If you see something here or have an idea for a custom sign or hand-carved whale for that perfect spot in your home, feel free to send Pete an email.

Our signs and whales are meant for interior display only.

We are not a commercial sign fabricator. All work is completed in our small, home workshop and shipped to our customers.

Julie Vogel, woodturner

Julie has finally found her right-brain groove as a bowl turner after years of dabbling in pen turning, a skill she learned from her father to help her escape the pressures of her career. Julie is a type-A workaholic who has worn hats as a grade school teacher, school principal, college professor and associate dean, and school superintendent who never, ever, had any quality time to explore her creative side.

Well, things have changed. Julie’s sophisticated eye for design and proportion comes from her appreciation for traditional and modern forms. She continually picks up the nuances of woodturning as though she’s instinctively making up for years of lost time, all while honing her skills and gaining confidence with every project. “Who would have thought?” she often asks. No one is more surprised than she is, and I’ve never seen her happier.
